About・このサイトについて:

Welcome to RoseRaqs.com, one of the homes of Rose. Rose is a professional dancer based in Atlanta, Georgia. She is known by many as the 'Chatni/Chutney Bellydancer' within the West-Indian community, or the 'Otaku Bellydancer' at cosplay events and anime/manga conventions.

Navigation is to the left. Since the website is still in its infantile stages, the option to view the website in Japanese is not yet available.

You may book me for the following events listed below. Also, packages are available with two dancers, including Asha of Ashadance.com, and myself. Contact myself or Asha for details.

Parties/Gatherings

Available for weddings, birthday parties, corporate events, festivals, bar/bat mitzvahs, and all that jazz ect. There is a set minimun price, but pricing also depends on how long the performance will be, how many costume changes are requested, and how many props are used. E-mail me to work out a tailored show. Everyone's a special case.

Like any other self-respecting dancer, no bachelor parties or any sort of establishment excluding women, please.

Conventions

Available for anime/manga and Japan-related conventions and events. For conventions, I am available for workshop panels, performances, and Japanese-language panels. Please e-mail me for details.

Club Events/Restaurants

I occasionally perform at restaurants and clubs. I'd tell you which restaurants I perform at, but I'd have to kill you. Once again, please drop me a line to find where I will be performing next. Do the same if you would like to hire me for your next restaurant/club event.

Audience Etiquette:

So, you want to hire a bellydancer, hm? Or are you just going as a spectator? As the audience member, there are a few things you may want to keep in mind:

'Aiwa'~!!

'Aiwa' is a traditional call of encouragement. It has a connotation of, 'Yes!' when shouted during a performance, and it is a great compliment. For turkish and Greek establishments, one may wish to use 'Opa!', instead.

Zaghareet!

A zagharoot(sing.) is a rapid trilling of the tongue. It is a a gesture used to honour a person - similar to an applause - and it shows appreciation for the dancer. It is also customary to cover one's mouth when doing the zaghareet to hide the tongue (because..it just doesn't look right =)). Click here to hear what a zaghareet sounds like!

Participate!

It is customary for the dancer to select and audience member in the crowd to dance with. Don't be shy! Chances are, if you are sitting where the dancer can easily grab you, she will. So don't sit if in the front if you don't want to be forced to dance, or you're asking for it ;)

Oh, and it helps if you look like you're interested. We know you are. Express it. Smile. It's even more encouraging.

Tipping $_$

Oh, tipping is not required, but it is highly appreciated. Feel free to tip by sticking bills in the belt of the costume, or preferably, showering the tips from overhead.

Applause

...and of course, please do clap when you like what you see. :)
